Recruitment
Join Our Team – Make a Difference in Your Community

Are you looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community? Considering a future in the medical field? Many healthcare professionals—including doctors, nurses, physician assistants, and more—began their journeys as Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs).
Waterville Emergency Medical Services is a volunteer-based department dedicated to delivering exceptional care to the residents and visitors of Douglas County. We’re seeking passionate, community-minded individuals to join our team and help us continue providing high-quality emergency medical services with competence, compassion, and humility.
Opportunities to Serve

There are several ways to get involved, whether you're pursuing a career in healthcare or simply want to make a positive impact:
-
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
This is our most common entry point. EMTs provide care on scene and during transport. No experience or certification? No problem—we can help connect you with training opportunities and may offer tuition assistance. You'll begin by working alongside seasoned providers, gaining hands-on experience before transitioning to more independent roles. -
Emergency Vehicle Operator (EVO)
Not sure patient care is your calling? EVOs are a vital part of our team. You’ll receive CPR and first aid certification along with in-house training. EVOs help on scene and drive the ambulance but are not responsible for direct patient care. -
Auxiliary Member
Prefer to work behind the scenes? Our auxiliary team supports administrative, logistical, and community outreach efforts. It's a great way to contribute without responding to emergency calls. -
Student Volunteers
We welcome high school students seeking volunteer hours or looking to explore a future in emergency services.

If you're interested in joining our team—or just have questions—we’d love to hear from you.

Who we
are

We are regular people, community members who decided they wanted to serve their community. We’re dedicated to leadership and public safety, committed to bringing our neighbors the best Emergency Medical Service possible. Most of us had no previous medical experience, but now EMS is second nature. For some they felt a special calling, for others they saw a social media post or heard someone talking about the need for EMTs in the community. The only thing we all have in common, is that each of us made the decision to reach out.
